Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Are you searching in the Library dialog (Ctrl+Shift+b or Show All Bookmarks)?

The Library dialog does initially show you the contents of the Other Bookmarks "container". But you should be able to use the tree diagram in the left column to change the view to Bookmarks Menu or Bookmarks Toolbar. Can you see your bookmarks there?

I suggest making a couple safety backups, one in Firefox's regular backup format and one in the cross-browser export format:

• Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer
• Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks

Then try this extension that does some "maintenance" on the database which stores your bookmarks and history to hopefully clean out any corruption:

I tried all of your suggestions and it did not work. Finally figured out for some reason all of my folders where duplicated 30 times. After I deleted them the search worked. Thanks for the help.
