When Firefox updated last time (on my PC at work), it opened with a page asking me to sign into my FF account. Stupidly, I signed in. Next time I looked, the Bookmarks Toolbar looked wrong and I realized that it is what I use at home, and I couldn't get to any of my work bookmarks. I finally figured out how to get them back, but I'd really like to get it back to where it's not asking me to sign in constantly.

I'm also really upset that it changed my bookmarks. Not everyone knows how FF syncs and that signing in on the wrong computer will cause changes that will cost lost productivity.

    → → → → IT SHOULD COME WITH A WARNING BEFORE IT COMPLETES ANY ACTIONS! ← ← ← ←

In other words, before it merged my bookmarks, it should have come up with a warning that explicitly said it was about to merge bookmarks from another computer, and ask if I really want to continue - as well as with any other action signing into your account does.

Is there any way I can sign into my FF account on a FF page - but NOT on the computer, so I can see what's there? If I click to 'Disconnect' my account, will it stop asking me to sign in? How do I update the name/email address of my FF Account?

First, see this support article to learn how to disable the data types that you don't want synchronized to a device. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-choose-what-types-information-sync-firefox

No, there is no way to view your data that is sitting in your Firefox account on the Sync server. The manner in which encrypts Sync data prevents Sync data from being viewed outside of the devices that are / were connected to Sync. The "password" which is algorithmically created in your Firefox installation isn't "shared" off of your devices, it remains on your connected devices.

Please see this search of the Firefox support knowledge base to learn how Sync works. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/search/advanced?q=Sync&language=en-US&product=firefox&sortby_documents=relevance&a=1&w=1
