Have been using Thunderbird and Outlook for years and I would like to migrate all my Outlook accounts and calendar to Thunderbird please tell me how to do this.
Dear all,
For many years I have been using Thunderbird and Outlook for years and I would like to migrate all my Outlook accounts and calendar to Thunderbird.
I started by installing Thunderbird Setup 31.8.0.exe but now I lost all my dictionaries.
Please tell me how to import my accounts and calendars from Outlook to Thunderbird and how to restore or reinstall my dictionaries. Thank you very much.
Kind regards, George Nielsen

That is a very old, outdated and unsupported version of Thunderbird. You should install the latest version of Thunderbird for starters. 68.5.0 is the latest stable release as at the time of this reply. Uninstall the old one then visit https://www.thunderbird.net to download and install it.

Hi Stans,
Thank you for your reply. I have now reinstalled Thunderbird version 60.6.1. I should have contacted you before installing version 31.8.0. However I read answers and thought that this was the way to solve the problem. Now following the installation of 60.6.1 I have once more my dictionaries.
Please let me know how I should import all my Outlook profiles and calendars into Thunderbird. Thank you.
Try using MailStore Home to transfer from Outlook to TB.

That often works better than the import wizard in TB 60 or 68. If you use the wizard, start from Tools/Import and select Mail, not Import Everything, as that won't work.
Save calendars from Outlook as iCalendar .ics files and import to TB with Events & Tasks/Import...

Is there any particular reason why you're not installing the latest version of Thunderbird?
I alrady had 60.6.1 so I reinstalled it. Now I have installed 68.5.0 although I did not uninstall the old one prior to installing the new one, lest I lose data or settings. Is there any danger of that? Should I uninstall and reinstall Thunderbird?
Uninstalling the program doesn't affect your data in the separate, profile folder, unless you check the box to delete the profile, when uninstalling. Also, uninstall/reinstall of the same version seldom fixes most problems, which are due to issues in the profile folder.
Stans: The import wizard often works better with older versions of TB such as 31 or even 17. Installing an older version, importing from Outlook, and then upgrading to the latest version is an accepted method.
The import wizard on TB 60 or 68 is unreliable, but the MailStore method (Windows only) is often easier and more effective.
You can try Mailvita PST to MBOX Converter for Mac this utility easily to migrate Outlook PST file to Thunderbird MBOX file format on Mac. The technology supports all MS Outlook and Mac versions. The free demo version is available to analyze the functions.
I had read your query and want to provide the solution for the migration of the Outlook email client data into Thunderbird.
Look the Outlook save its files in PST format and Thunderbird uses MBOX file format for exporting its data. And for the conversion of the data from Outlook PST to Thunderbird MBOX file you can choose the effective solution like Softaken PST to MBOX Conversion Tool or if you don't get any solution with that you can refer the article which I am sharing below.
