Hello, A few months ago I began working for a new company. I use the company's email platform quite often as I am in charge of warranty information on our products. Anyhow, the email system has been pretty screwed up since I began using it. As of late, we have been having issues with the outgoing & incoming mail servers. We use Go Daddy as the father provider for the multiple emails. For instance, we have a main email, service, admin, and info emails all with the same @example.biz. We just received an email from Go Daddy stating that as of 12/31/21 Microsoft 365 will no longer support our emails. Now to the main issue, we use Thunderbird to check/send/receive emails. To my understanding, the outgoing/incoming servers and ports have to be configured correctly in order for the receiving and sending of emails to work correctly, but I have no idea how to find out what the correct configurations are. (The owner of the company does not know either, hence why I have become our "IT" person.) All of our sub part email address do the same thing but not at the same time. At various times on different days we will either not be able to send emails or will not be able to receive emails but on another computer (which also randomly has the same problems) we can send/receive emails at that same point in time. I am very confused and do not know where to begin. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

To add onto the issue above, I cannot figure out how to change our passwords for all given emails since we use Thunderbird. Would I need to change all passwords through Go Daddy and re-add them onto Thunderbird and delete the old additons?

re :We just received an email from Go Daddy stating that as of 12/31/21 Microsoft 365 will no longer support our emails.

Is that because you have declined to use a paid for service ?

Are you using a free or paid workspace ? https://uk.godaddy.com/help/free-workspace-email-is-no-longer-supported-19159

Paid for options should get auto migrated to MS 365.: https://uk.godaddy.com/help/my-workspace-email-is-moving-to-microsoft-365-32394

It sounds like if you do not use a paid for email service then whilst the domain is not effected, the email service will stop.

You really need to make sure you have a copy of all emails which is not dependent upon the mail account. If you currently use IMAP mail accounts then check settings to make sure you are able to download full copies of emails for all folders. Then synchronise all folders to ensure all up to date.

Option to copy via Thunderbird - is a lengthy repetitious process. Go into offline mode, Create folders in the 'Local Folders' mail account ready to receive emails. In imap account: Select/highlight batches of emails use right click > COPY TO and select desired folder in Local Folders. Repeat this boring task until completed.

Alternatively, there is a quicker way via the 'profile folders' - you can get copies of mbox files put into the 'Local Folders' mail account. It may help to first create suitably named folders in the 'Local Folders' account so you know which email address is in that folder. You say "For instance, we have a main email, service, admin, and info emails all with the same @example.biz. " So create four folders called 'Main', 'Service', 'Admin', 'Info' as top level folders. Then create sub folder called 'Test' in each' - this can be deleted later.

Menu app icon > Help > More Troubleshooting Information Under 'Application Basics' half way down - 'Profile Folder' click on 'Open folder' - see image as guide

A new window opens showing contents of profile name folder.

Exit Thunderbird now.

You will see a 'Mail' folder - it contains pop accounts and the 'Local Folders' folder. You will also see an 'ImapMail' folder - it contains all the imap accounts.

Right click on the 'Mail' folder and open in new window, then click on the 'Local Folders' folder to see contents. The Local Folders folder should contain Four folders with .sbd extension:

'Main.sbd', 'Service.sbd', 'Admin.sbd', 'Info.sbd'.

If you are going to copy across all the 'Main' account emails first then click on the 'Main.sbd' folder to see contents. You should see the 'Test' mbox file. - Keep this window open ready to receive files/folders.

I'm strongly suggesting you get 'Copies' because if something goes wrong then it is easy to repeat. If a 'move' goes up the creek it could be really up the creek.

Click on the 'ImapMail' folder and select imap account to see contents. Start with the 'Main' account. You will need to get copies of all of the following: All folders with *.sbd extension. All mbox files - these files have no extension and contain emails.

Then paste those 'copied' files and folders into the 'Local Folders' > 'Main.sbd' folder - see image as a guide. Then delete the 'Test' mbox file and also the 'Test.msf' file.

Repeat procedure - In Local Folders - now select the 'Service.sbd' folder In ImapMail folder select the 'Service' mail account folder to see contents. Get copies of all folders with .sbd extension and all mbox fles - no extension - pasted into the 'Services.sbd' folder then delete the Test files as before.

Repeat for each account you need copies of emails.

Do not worry if you only use POP accounts, but I suspect this may not be the case.

Correct. You cannot modify any password via Thunderbird. This has to be done via the webmail account accessed via a browser. Then confirm you can get access to the webmail account using new password.

In Thunderbird. If only password needs updating: Menu app icon > Preferences > Privacy & Security Under 'Passwords section click on 'Saved Passwords' click on 'Show Passwords' Right click on the appropriate line - note there may be two for each as it also includes smtp. Select 'Edit Password' Completely remove old password and carefully type in the correct new password. Repeat for each one you need to edit. click on 'Close'

Restart Thunderbird to ensure all passwords are being correctly used.

re :If you currently use IMAP mail accounts then check settings to make sure you are able to download full copies of emails for all folders.

See info :

Make sure you select : Keep messages for this account on this computer Also click on that 'Advanced' button just to double check all folders really are selected. Select first option to 'synchronise all messages locally regardless of age'.

To force a full sync - Menu app icon > File > Offline > Download/sync now Select 'Mail messages' You should only select to 'Work offline once download/synchronisation is complete' IF you are going to perform the copying of individual emails in small batches. If you are going to perform copies of mbox files then you will exit Thunderbird later anyway. click on OK

As a heads up there is a really useful addon called 'ImportExportTools NG' Once you have a fully synchronised download of emails, you could use this tool to export emails in various formats. https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools-ng/

How to create backups address books: In Address Book Select an address book - not 'All address Books' as that is a virtual folder. Tools > Export Export as LDIF or .CSV to a suitable location.

FULL BACKUP After copying a load of folders etc you may want to get a full backup of this to external drive: Use Thunderbird to get access to Profile folders - as previously mentioned. Then Exit Thunderbird. Go up directory 3 levels to 'Roaming' folder and copy the 'Thunderbird' folder to external storage.- see attached image.
