Usually when closing Firefox (have the latest version), the task manager still shows it in the background running. Also when I restart it, tabs are lost. I tried to replace the sessionstore.js with the backup but it still doesn't recover my tabs for some reason. I now have a sessionstore.js and also a .json file. If you can tell me how I can restore the tabs automatically instead manually searching every link, it will save me lots of hours.

Use "Firefox/File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit") to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the title bar.

See "Hang at exit":
