When the British Airways website is loaded there are various menu options presented along the top of the window ('Flights & Holiday' 'Manage my bookings', 'Information', Executive Club' etc:,) - by running a mouse over (or clicking) these headings multiple dark blue drop down lists with multiple options SHOULD appear - when using Firefox or Waterfox they don't.

These drop-down menus simply do not appear in either Firefox or Waterfox and, rather bizarrely, the menu headings do nothing if you click them thus making the website un-navigable forcing the use of another browser (every other browser I have works fine!).

I have tried various permutations of options including 'allowing' pop-ups on the Ba website but nothing works.

What am I doing wrong or how can I make the Mozilla browsers work properly on this website?

This page, I assume: http://www.britishairways.com/travel/home/public/en_gb

Do mouseover-triggered scripts run for you on other sites?

Does your computer have a touch screen? Some users with touch screen have found sites where hovering does not work normally (by normally, I mean the way non-touch displays work). Here's a thread on that: mouse hover drop down menu not shown.

Please update to the current Firefox 33.1.1 release.

  • Help > About Firefox

The Firefox version that you currently run is no longer supported with security updates.

  • It is important to update Firefox and add-ons to the latest version to get all security fixes.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

No it didn't sort out the problem as I had already checked that and in both my desktop and laptop the flag is set to 0 already - this problem affects BOTH my desktop & laptop (both are Windows 7 64 bit machines - Desktop runs 7 Ultimate, Laptop runs 7 Pro) and neither are touch screens.

I have now downloaded, installed then tested a total of 9 other browsers (including the Maxthon Cloud browser which is many times faster than any other browser I have ever tried!) and in ALL of them the drop-down menus work perfectly so, in my opinion, it is definitely a Firefox/Waterfox coding problem as drop down menus don't work on either of these browsers on any of my computers and I see that there is quite a bit of chatter about this particular Mozilla problem scattered around the various internet communities.

I'm not using Firefox - I am currently using Waterfox

Have you tried Firefox/Waterfox's Safe Mode to rule out potential issues with extensions, hardware acceleration, and JavaScript compilers?

Yes - it was the first thing I did!

I didn't post the question in the forum until I had tried everything I know to try to make it work properly.

In fact I run very few Extensions/Addons as, in my experience/opinion they only slow everything down!

I have come to the reluctant conclusion that it is probably simpler just to use a browser that works properly when trying to book a flight on the BA website rather than spend the time and (currently rather fruitless) effort to make Waterfox/Firefox work with drop-down menus in the BA (and other) websites.
