How to change defaults so a private window comes up when clicking on + sign for new tab? If not, why not??

Mozilla Firefox is still tilted away from privacy. Clicking on the + tab to create a new window does not bring up a private window. It is extra key strokes to bring up a private window (or It's not clear how to make private the default), and contrary to ingrained habits of most users.

Hello Bernard

I believe the following addon will work perfectly for you : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/private-tab/

Thanks for the quick response. Perhaps this will do the trick. The second part of the question was, if not why not? In other words why does the extra work fall on those wanting more privacy more easily? To use an old metaphor, it's as if a lock on the door would be an extra for your house or car. Answer desired from the shakers and movers at Mozilla. Why is this not a built-in option on parity with the other "privacy" options?

When you are in permanent Private Browsing mode then all tabs and windows that you open should be PB mode tabs. The Private Tab extension will allow to open normal tabs or change the mode of each tab.

You can use an extension to get Private Browsing mode support per tab.

Hi Bernard

One of the reason for this is people can get confused between whats private and whats not, so creating a separate window made it more clear and eliminates these scenarios.

Thank you
