Hello, After updating to Firefox 40.0.3 several weeks back, Firefox would crash at startup. I've uninstalled Firefox, reinstalled FIrefox (now with version 41), ran Windows Update (Vista 64 bit), updated shockwave and flashplayer, uninstalled Firefox and deleted the Mozilla folder in the AppData directory Roaming. Update a couple of addins, FreeMake in particular. Disabled antivirus (Norton 360). I'm unable to start Firefox in safe mode (when I hold down shift and try to launch Firefox the crash report comes up right away). Versions previous to 40.0.3 worked with no issues.

I look forward to hearing from you, thank you! David

Sorry to hear about the crashes, and that you for the report ID.

That signature seems to disproportionately affect Vista users. There is a bug referenced in the crash report, but it is for 64-bit test builds of Firefox, and the final released versions are all 32-bit builds.

I do notice a references to FLVSrvLib.dll in the report(at the top of list on the Modules mini-tab), which is a DLL associated with Applian Technologies' Freecorder program. In other threads, users have encountered startup crashes if they have both Freecorder and Norton.

If you do indeed have the Freecorder program and it isn't essential, try uninstalling it and then restarting Windows to ensure that none of its components are left running.

Will Firefox start normally after that?
