I factory reset my Laptop but did not backup or store my bookmarks in html anywhere. I have many years of good bookmarks which I want to recover. I did set up a sync account a few days before the factory set. How possible?
A solution will be much appreciated - thanks.

As you said you had set up firefox account a few days before formatting your laptop so you can again login to that firefox account on firefox browser. Your bookmarks, themes and extensions would have been synced at that time and will be restored now automatically after signing in to account.
To begin with, Sync wasn't intended to be used in lieu of a proper backup. Its purpose it to synchronize Firefox data across multiple devices.
That said - did you try to login into Sync after the factory reset? Using the email address you used for your Account and the exact same password that was being used the last time Firefox was used, and Sync was enabled. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-sync-my-computer#w_connect-additional-devices-to-sync
If so, did you forget your Password or you decided request a new Password? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ive-lost-my-firefox-sync-account-information
Many thanks the-edmeister. I did, but that is assuming that I thicked bookmarks at the time of creating the account - and which I probably didn't.
"... that I thicked bookmarks ..." ??
When the user sets up Sync -- Bookmarks, Passwords, and History are automatically selected; Tabs was added automatically selected within the last year or so. So all those categories should have "sync'd" unless they were de-selected when you set up Sync initially.
