I was experiencing a lot of problems with flash in chrome with not a single solution so I decided to download and use firefox. The first day it worked ok. I noticed it was a little bit slower however about 2 days ago it started acting crazy. Pages I left open would not load and they would get stuck, I would close the browser and restart and sites would load great then about 5 minutes in every single page would get stuck with a loading symbol. Most of that is gone but it still comes and goes. My real big issue right now though is the typing is extremely laggy. Mouse cursor changes are extremely laggy i.e when just on the page it is a pointer when you scroll over a video it takes about a second or two to change to a hand. My clicks are also extremely delayed sometimes as well. i.e. sometimes right clicking won't do anything until after about 10 clicks. and even the left click is delayed by about 1-2 seconds. With the typing normally I can type out a 9 letter word before it actually displays it on the screen then when it displays it it will display the text letter by letter extremely fast. I reset the browser with no change and I disabled the add-ons I added but it also still says add-ons and extensions are active. Please help otherwise I will just get rid of the browser although that is not what I want to do. I am currently on 51.0.1 32 bit. Does that matter if my system is 64 bit? It also says up to date. I am using windows 10 64 bit on a high end gaming desktop

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

For the most part yes. I was only able to test it shortly.

I also have hardware acceleration unchecked as well due to even more issues with it.

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?

So one interesting thing that I found is that when I tried to shift and restart I got this message for firefox.exe "The instruction at 0x000000006C2DB821 referenced memory at 0x00000000276810000. The current Memory could not be read. In safe mode It appears I am not seeing any lag or mouse problems at all actually. What are you thinking that could cause this? Driver incompatibility? Memory problems?

As for protection I already stopped it because it messes with everything and the firewall tries to block everything without asking if I want to allow things through it. that was part of the problem with the pages not loading. When they refused to load intermittently I disabled real time protection and it still did it so I disabled the entire anti virus and firewall and all the page loading problems went away.

You can also do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

TDSS Killer: No Threats

Kaspersky Security Scan: Problem with me using Daemon tools. Says it can be used to damage my computer... I've never hadany issues with using it for virtual drives.

Spybot: came up with lots of temporary files as well as nothing but cookie problems and some minor registry key problems that were fixed.

Windows Defender: Nothing turned up

Microsoft safety Scanner: Nothing turned up

Super Anti Spyware: Found tracking cookies

ADW Cleaner: Found reimage as a threat

Malware Bytes: Found a Potentially unwanted program (reimage) that I did not want or need either due to the unwanted ads

I ran full scans on everything to rule everything out as well however, one thing I noticed was that with several of these scans running my CPU was sometimes maxed out but when some of them finished my CPU and memory were roughly at 50% and I was seeing the same lag through everything on the computer. Clicks and mouse transitions were delayed as well, I don't think the typing was delayed but, windows would delay in dragging them across the screen, etc... The mouse also seemed like it would jump as well. All threats were cleaned

Can you provide a list of background programs you are using?

How do I do that?

One other thing I noticed is I checked the crash reports for firefox, Would those tell me what is going on? I'm seeing exception breakpoint crashes that have vendor and device id's that seem to be pointing to my Nvidia GTX1080 but I am fully unsure. Problem with that though is games play exceptionally well and I have no issues with the card nor problems with playing any games. The drivers are also up to date as well...

You would need to know how to read the reports.

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

So, Come to find out I think the problem was the graphics card. I left resident evil on pause today when I left for work. Came back home to a monitor that was only displaying 4 fps.... Long story short swapped back to my old gtx 970's in Sli and the problem went away. I was getting windows starting up however after that I would lose video to the monitor.... such a shame for a GTX1080.... thank god EVGA is allowing me to RMA the card... Unfortunately this is the second time I have had their cards go out like this... I think it's time to stray from EVGA on anything period for me.... I've experienced nothing but problems with their products...

That was very good work. Well done. Please flag your last post as Solved Problem so others will know.

It definitely was not the issue. I still have the issue after a fresh windows install, All drivers were clean installed and updated.... I decided not to even bother with firefox anymore because there are already threads on some of my problems and they just say to restart firefox.... There are obviously massive performance problems with firefox so I went back to chrome and the issues I was having with chrome are gone

Is it possible that something wrong with firefox could have bricked my card? i.e. a software glitch, bad optimization, etc...?

From looking through some of it I have a feeling that it might be a shockwave flash problem along with the video card... Would this be a correct assumption? The vendor ID points to either my graphics card or monitor (gsync monitor) but, I think it would be more pointed towards the graphics card as my monitor is not listed under nvidia in device manager. Those are both the newest components as well.

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drivers

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
