You must set the connection security to STARTTLS and the User Name to your email address:

Thank you for your assistance. I have now entered the connection security and user name as advised above. It still didn't work, so I contacted iinet again and they went through all the options for me, however I still get the error message when attempting to send emails. I set it to no authentication required. I am unsure of the password for my Thunderbird connection on this HP laptop. I would appreciate any further suggestions you may have.

Your Thunderbird must always provide the same password you use to access webmail. Thunderbird is essentially logging in on your behalf, so it must use the same password as for iinet webmail.

The error says 'authentication required', so you should set the authentication method to 'normal password', as shown in the pictures on the help page cited above.
