As the subject says, when playing some (but not all) videos ending with .mp4, Firefox will show a page with a box containing the error "No video with supported format and mime type found." Sometimes the video's sound will play but the video itself will be a blank black box.

I have already tried the following:

  • Clearing all cookies, cache, and data
  • Disabling all addons
  • Using a brand new vanilla profile

I have tried the videos in Google Chrome and they work just fine. I also experimented with video players. Windows Media Player is incapable of playing them yet VLC player, DivX player, and Media Player Classic all play them just fine. Could this just be an issue with the version of windows on this PC?

I am currently running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

See if there are updates for your graphics drivers https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1359657#answer-1463359 and updated to 95.0. . . . I finally found where the plugin "Widevine Content Decryption Module provided by Google Inc." was not updating to the newest version of December 1, 2021. Ver #4.10.2391.0

cor-el; Make sure you have the latest Widevine version. You can toggle DRM off/on to see if that makes Firefox (re)load DRM components.

You can possibly check the XHR requests in the Browser Console if this doesn't work.

Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required)?

Is there more info in the Web Console ?

I did notice that my Cisco Openh264 is only version 1.8.1.1 and hasn't updated in two years (despite the current release version being 2.2.0) Would that cause this problem? I am unsure as to how to update this plugin as using the check for updates button in the plugin menu says no updates found.
