I have an email account with Time Warner Cable through Roadrunner email. I have the following SMTP settings. SMTP Server - Outgoing, Server Name: mail.twc.com, Port: 587, Username: dhodgkins@oh.rr.com, Authentication Method: Normal Password, and Connection Security: SSL/TLS.

My incoming email is functioning properly with the following settings, IMAP Server - Incoming, Server Name: mail.twc.com, Port: 993, Username: dhodgkins@oh.rr.com, Connection Security: SSL/TLS, and Authentication Method: Normal Password.

I have tried to send myself a test email to verify that the email was being sent and received. Thunderbird shows a message that the email is being set. About 30 seconds later I get a message that the email was not sent. The error it states is that the SMTP settings may be incorrect.

I had Thunderbird about 3 years ago with the same email setup as above and was able to send/receive emails. Then after about 2 and 1/2 years later, all of a sudden the outgoing mail was not being sent. I ran into the same problem I have stated above. I had to switch to Internet email in order to send/receive my email.

I had mremoved Thunderbird at the time I ran into the problem. I reinstalled Thunderbird about 2 days ago and as I stated, the problem still exists. Can you offer me any assistance in correcting this problem?

Thank you for your time and any help you may be able to offer.

I guess it is the same issue you had last time. In about 99 of every 100 folk complaining about inabiliuty to connect I find myself asking them what the error message is. I can not guess, so oyu have to tell me, or anyone else trying to help you.

As this has been a long standing issue I would guess it is your antivirus program dropping the ball. But that is just a guess based on really nothing other than they have been a real problem with email over the years.

The outgoing server settings you posted do not match what the following article says they should be:

https://www.postbox-inc.com/setup/email-settings/access-twc-via-imap-smtp

The security setting stated there is STARTTLS, not SSL/TLS like the incoming server.
