This instruction confuses me Close down Firefox completely: At the top of the Firefox window, click the File menu, and select the Exit menu item. How can I close down completely and then click the file menu?
I am trying to make web pages load faster and went to Troubleshooting Firefox. One of the fixes is to operate in safe mode. To get there the instructions say to: Close down Firefox completely: At the top of the Firefox window, click the File menu, and select the Exit menu item. I do not understand how I can shut down completely and then have access to the file menu. Are they saying to start Firefox again and then do it?

This instructions show you how to close Firefox, as you already know how to close Firefox they are not relevant for you. You can carry on with the instructions to start Firefox in safe mode.
