Issues with two sites; they worked OK until some time ago.
1) One day (many FF versions ago) Firefox couldn't load anymore http://dictionary.reference.com/ (however it still loads its sister website http://thesaurus.com), therefore I have to use the IE engine. 2) Since last update to FF13.0.1, it does load http://www.bloomberg.com/tv/ but LIVE TV doesn't work (it does not play). Again, it works when turning to IE engine. Just to save time: no cache, cookies or other "cleaning" issues, I tried them all. Thanks.

First, try to reset Firefox. Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings. This simple step will eliminate many Firefox problems with only one click.
A few other basic trouble shooting things you can try is this: Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.
Update your graphics driver (Firefox uses your graphics card for some rendering, and an out of date graphics card driver can cause problems. Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL
Update all your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/.
Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. You can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.

Thank you. In fact it solved only the issue related to http://dictionary.reference.com/, but not the other one (http://www.bloomberg.com/tv/).
I guess this last one not working has to do with last version of FF. I'm almost sure that it stopped streaming this website's LIVE TV when I upgraded to version 13.

Do you otherwise have problems with Flash?
You can check for problems caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and possibly downgrade to Flash 11.2 or 10.3.
Flash works OK but it usually crashes when it wakes up after putting it to sleep or hibernation. The Flash object goes grey with a small legend in the center reading "send a crash report" and another one below "restart application (or similar)". I guess I had this issue before latter Flash updates. Thanks.
