Try the Firefox Safe Mode to see how it works there. The Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
- You can open the Firefox 4.0+ Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- Or use the Help menu item and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in Safe Mode." To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shift key) to open it again. If it is good in the Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.
Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
I tried opening Firefox in Safe Mode and as soon as I try to download anything the save as dialog makes firefox crashes.
It's possible that your anti-virus software is somehow messing up the download while checking the downloaded file for viruses.
Could you try the steps provided in the following article: Firefox crashes when downloaded files are checked by virus scan
Hi cor-el, thanks for your reply but I can't delete or fix that file. I actually have instaled WRQ Reflection for windows because I use it for work. I don't think that is the problem because it has been installed since I have this laptop a year ago and the crash began like two weeks ago.
Hi funky, thanks for your reply. I tried the steps on the article you mentioned and the configuration of my firefox was already set to false on browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone. Maybe the problem is the save as dialog is searching for a location no longer available in my recent download folders or something like that. How can I delete this history?
The crash report has a [@ shwrq.dll@0xbf39 ] signature, so you should look into the software that adds that DLL to Firefox.
Other measures most likely won't help if all crash reports have that signature.
You can try to contact the makers of that software and inform them about the issue.
