Attempting to log into On-Star.com, I get a javascript:void(0) error. Why? How Can I resolve this?

more options

When I attempt to log into Onstar.com and fill in the userid and password fields, the log-in link doesn't work. Instead I get a error code in the lower-left of the window "javascript:void(0). I contacted Onstar and they suggested I try IE. I did so and logged in with no problem. Their comment was the Firefox does not communicate with their web site well. Why would that be. I just updated Java so I know it's not out of date, so I must conclude it's an issue with Firefox. Can you assist me, as generally I like Firefox and would hate to discard it for another browser.

Sites use javascript:void(0) as a placeholder in the link when the link is meant to fire off a script.

So you're on this page:

https://my.gm.com/web/portal/login/onstar

And when you click the orange button, nothing happens?

When I try logging in with asdf as both the username and password, after a couple seconds I get an error message in the page: "The username and/or password you entered is invalid. Please check your entry and try again." Could you try triggering that to see whether Firefox is sending the login to the server and getting back any kind of response?
