Our house is networked. My wife and I had separate bookmark files on our computers. Recently, they combined so both of us are seeing each others'. There is a two horizontal bar divider halfway down that separates our files. How do we restore them without deleting them on both computers at the same time?

The only cause I can think of is that you are using Sync.

Do you see an email address in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list and does sync informationcome up if you open "Options > Sync"?

Did you import bookmarks from one computer to another? Or did you use the Sync service to synchronize your Firefox personal data between the two?

Neither. We think it began when my wife signed up for "Last Pass" password protection. I already had it and recommended it to her.
