Ok, this is getting beyond frustrating. When I do a search for say, a name of an older client or any other such search. Let's say I had a shipping address for 'John Doe' in the past week and I do a search for 'John Doe' it will show me all the emails with john doe in the search results.

When I click on one of the emails from the search results, it gives me a page with the 'Welcome to Thunderbird' advert on it. I can't see the actual email message.

This doesn't happen to all emails it seems. But it happens way too often. I can't see the original email, just the 'Welcome to Thunderbird' page when I try to read it.

Is there anyway to get rid of this so I can see the original email message again?

1. It doesn't make a difference if I have one thunderbird window open or several - same result

2. I deleted the global-messages-db.sqlite file and restarted Thunderbird. Didn't work on the first restart, but I restarted Thunderbird a couple of times and on the third try, it seems to be finding whatever I put in the search field.

Thank you so much for your help!

1. Make certain you have only one Thunderbird window open

2. If you are using the search field, the one accessed with ctrl+K, then perhaps the global index file is hosed. Go to help | troubleshooting | Profile Folder | open folder - in that folder find global-messages-db.sqlite Shut down Thunderbird. Delete that file (it doesn't hold you mail, it's only an index). Restart Thunderbird.

If you still have a problem, visit tools | error console for relevant error messages
