With the newest FF version (57) I noticed that in the 'Volume Mixer' of Windows there are multiple instances of 'Firefox', 1 is 'Mozilla Firefox' (main program process set at 25%) and multiple called 'Firefox' (for each tab it seems) all with their own volume control. For every new tab it looks like I have to turn down the volume from 50% (Master volume is set to 50%) EVERY SINGLE TIME :( I'm afraid to open any websites that might contain (auto play) videos where the video player's audio is set to max by default :/ Muting "Mozilla Firefox" (the main process) in the volume mixer doesn't mute the opened tabs anymore. I've read that this has been an issue in previous version of FF and that it should've been fixed by now, although this is the first time the issue is occurring for me.

Please help/fix this before I go deaf :(

I've looked around in "About:config" for anything audio/volume related and have come across "media.default_volume" and changed the the value from "1.0" to "0.5" and for now this seems to be a temporary workaround as it sets the volume for any media elements on a page to 50%. Yet I still would like it if the default volume of a new tab would just stick to the Mozilla Firefox's main application setting.

More than one process is normal for the current Firefox. http://www.ghacks.net/2016/07/22/multi-process-firefox/

Multi-process Firefox is codenamed "e10s". https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/multiprocess
