To everyone that tried to help.

Not sure what I did (again) but I have the icons back on Yahoo Mail.

Just glad they're back. Then I had ads showing up in Yahoo Mail. Nothing I tried to install work.

So finally using my feeble brain, I got on my laptop to see what add-ons I had before I messed everything up. There was an add-on there and installed it on my PC and all is well once again.

I was going to use MOZ Backup and restore to my previous version but now I don't even have to do that.

Thanks to EVERYONE for all the help.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

  • Clear the Cache and
  • Remove Cookies

Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to. You may also lose any settings for that website.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Did this help?

While you are in safe mode;

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

Make sure you allow pages to choose their own fonts.

  • Options/Preferences -> General: Fonts & Colors -> Advanced
[X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

Special icons are usually supplied by a special icon font that is downloaded from the server (@font-face) You may see little boxes with the hex code of the character if you do not have a font installed that covers this Unicode range.

You can check gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled on the about:config page and make sure it is set to true (if necessary double-click the line to toggle its value to true).

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

Just wanted to let you know I'm still working on this issue. As usual, don't know what I did but the icons were back for a short time. I've printed off your suggestions and will keep working on it.

Thanks.

What email provider are we talking about?

I use AT&T, Yahoo mail.

I tried the ABOUT:config thing and it was already marked true. I disable all my Add-Ons and am still having the no icon issue.

I also deleted all my history and a couple of other things you guys mentioned. Still not luck.

What did this happen? Still trying some other things but it looks pretty hopeless.

Hi, Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove your Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. This process does not remove your Firefox profile data (such as bookmarks and passwords), since that information is stored in a different location.

To do a clean reinstall of Firefox, please follow these steps: Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.

  1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
  2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu New Fx Menu and click the close button Close 29).
  3. Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    • Windows:
      • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    • Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
    • Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
  4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device! See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.

Please report back to say if this helped you!

Thank you.

I am still having issues. So darned frustrating.

I got my icons back in my mail account but now I can't remember which Add-On I had that blocked all the ads while in my mail account.

I was considering use my Moz_Backup to restore my previous Mozilla Account.I've now disabled all my Add-Ons but will try the Safe Mode first.

Not sure if that will help or not.

I ate being such a pest but just wish things worked as before.

Leave the add-ons on the do Safe Mode then turn them all off and work to see which is the problem. Or Create a new Profile and stick your parts in from your backup.

If you name you add-ons we can probably tell which one is causing the issue.

Do you have extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin)?

FredMcD, I was so sorry that Moz-Backup was no longer supported. I cross my fingers that mine won't bomb out.

I thought it was awesome and still do think it's an awesome program.

Right now I have ALL my Add-ons Disabled, except for the one that I had before I upgraded Firefox. The one that HIDES the ads in my yahoo mail account.

Right now I'm not so stressed since as I said my icons in mail were missing. I still have NO idea why I finally got them back.

Must have been one of the suggestions I got here from one of you guys for which I am so thankful.
