With Firefox v62 using the Apple Magic Mouse 2 (MacBook Pro with OSX 10.13) some drop down menus in web sites don't persist. That is, when I click on the title or top word in the menu, it will drop down to reveal the options. However, when I let up on the mouse button, the menu list disappears and does not remain or persist. Normally, it would persist with the mouse button in the up position and I could move the mouse pointer down to make a selection. If I click repeatedly on the top of the list, it sometimes will drop down and persist, but there does not seem to be any pattern to this behavior.

The Magic Mouse works fine in Safari and, if I use a different (non-Apple) mouse, the menus in Firefox work OK. I have tried changing the settings of the Magic Mouse but it has had no effect.

I see that others have posted questions about this problem, but no solution was worked out.

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded and installed Adobe Flash. Is it supposed to appear as an add-on to Firefox? I don't see it.

I don't plan to start Firefox in safe mode just now since I read that it did not work for others who have this same problem.

I will report back when I find out about whether drop down menus work OK.

Hello? Are you there?

I tried starting in Safe Mode and the problem persists. I installed Flash again too.

Hi, just sent you a Private message regarding posting in others questions.

Glad figured out how to do a simple thing with Flash.

I would think the above is the issue.

Please try a Refresh but Note that this does more than uninstalling and re-installing does. Normal uninstalling does not remove some preferences which may have become corrupt. Please Refresh but do this 1st:

Thanks for the suggestion, but the problem stated there for the Magic Mouse and Firefox does not seem to be the same. The problem with Firefox versions after about v56 (I have checked) is that when you click on a drop down menu on a web page, the menu does not stay visible or "persist" so that you can scroll through it and pick a selection. Not a really big deal, but annoying if you have paid $$ for a fancy mouse.

Thanks for the reference to the Magic Mouse problems. The Magic Mouse works fine in all other applications except Firefox v62.

Thanks for all of your help. I tried refreshing Firefox v62, but the problem persists.

I don't mean to fight with you, but I don't see a problem with participating in more than one thread if it results in getting a solution. The thread I had started was stalled. No working solutions there.

I posted on the other thread to support the other user. If we both just worked on one thread, it would save time.

For example, did you also post all of the helpful suggestions you made to me to the other thread as well? If not, maybe you should. I suggest the best thing to do here is to ask the users who have the same problem to all go to one thread and continue the discussion. That would be the most efficient solution.

As it is now, we are being told to keep to our own threads. As a result, we two parallel threads with neither one getting a workable solution, as far as I can see.

The Apple Magic Mouse 2 problem is only with Firefox newer versions. It does not happen on Firefox v50 or on Safari or Chrome. It sure seems to be a Firefox issue!

Thanks for your help today. It's too bad we have to spend so much energy about how a mouse click is supposed to work!
