Firefox 65.0 NOT clearing it's internet cache on closing AS SET IN the HISTORY settings. Why not?
Each time I have posted clear and concise questions in this venue I have been belittled or ignored, so, I'll try for an answer one last time.
I have my HISTORY settings set to "Use Custom settings for History", CLEAR EVERYTHING and EVERY OPTION checked so FF SHOULD clear everything ON CLOSING.
It does NOT, but leaves ALL - - SITE PREFERENCES, COOKIES AND CACHE items behind without clearing them.
This has actually been the case since somewhere around FF 62 but I've been hoping it would be fixed by now.
If anyone has a proven fix or answer, I'll appreciate hearing. I'm still waiting for a correct and proven answer to my previous question.
Thanks,
Oldheart

Are these the settings you are talking about?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
Make sure you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history" - remove checkmark: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"
I was very clear. Not about Private browsing. About FF 65 not clearing history at closing, exit. Thx anyhow.
If Firefox doesn't clear this data when you close Firefox then it is possible that Firefox doesn't close properly. The privacy.sanitize.pending pref ("itemsToClear":[]) is used to keep track of what data has to be cleared on shutdown and items that have been done are removed from the list. If the list isn't empty on startup then pending tasks are finished and the pref is initialized to cover cases like crashes.
Use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.
- "3-bar" menu button -> Exit (Power button)
- Windows: File -> Exit
- Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox
- Linux: File -> Quit

Thanks, but no joy. NONE of these cure the problem.
I'm done.
Thanks anyhow.
