Upgraded to 1809, FF stopped working. Win 10 Home, upgraded to Win 10 Pro, still no. Uninstalled, reinstalled several times, it won't start, won't open.

This was my default browser. I had Win 10 Home 64 bit, updated to 1809 and Firefox stopped working completely. I uninstalled it but couldn't kill the process in Task Manager. Rebooted, reinstalled, refreshed. Nothing works, it won't open, sometimes it says it IS open (even when uninstalled - while running CCleaner to get rid of detritus) but won't allow force close.

So I upgraded to Win 10 Pro (I have Firefox on my backup Win 10 Pro machine with 1809, works fine there), and tried again. Still nothing, it installed but won't open. I refreshed it, still nothing. It did open once briefly after the refresh, all was gone - I can sync back my extensions and book marks, I guess. If I could get the browser open at all. But I can't do that. This is the only browser that isn't working. I am at a loss as to how to get past this. I've changed my default to another browser for now until I can get this fixed. But I've tried everything I know and can't even get it to open. So I am open to suggestions. I'd like to get it put back to where it was, eventually. What next? And, thank you for your help. :^) gene

I was working on another issue and was having trouble getting web pages to open in Chrome - so I did an ipconfig /flushdns, then tried again to install. That time it worked perfectly and synced as well. All is right in the world again. Thanks for your help! :^)

I did get it open, but it's a blank window, little circle goes endlessly, but nothing else happens, picture of that, such as it is, attached.

Tried safe mode, says my profile is missing or inaccessible so that doesn't work either. Out of ideas. Tonight anyway. :^)

When you uninstalled firefox did you also delete the Mozilla folder before reinstalling.

I was creating a new recovery disk. That finally finished, rebooting allowed me to delete that folder, download a new version, which brought in my bookmarks and such. But when I select one nothing happens. The little button flashes side to side and no page loads except the initial FireFox page. Can't sync either to bring in extensions that are loaded on my Mac and my other Win 10 machine. Odd. Maybe just tired. I do have it open but nothing is happening with it. So part way there.

Sounds like it wasn't uninstalled properly before reinstalling is what I am reading from the reply. Beyond backing up the bookmarks it doesn't look like it was uninstalled correctly. Also there been reports on various forums that 1809 wasn't stable O/S release as well. My system is still 1803 and stable.
