Has the latest version switched to only keeping bookmarks internally, and not as a file in the profile folder updated each time the browser is closed? I refreshed Sunday (14 July), but don't see such a file in the new profile folder.

Hi Dale_Latimer, Firefox started storing bookmarks and history together in the places.sqlite database a long time ago, around Firefox 3.0.

There is a preference you can set up to automatically export a bookmarks.html file, but I don't know how reliable it is. I don't think there is an official support article on it, but these might be helpful:

But I would recommend making a backup manually if you need to be confident that it is up-to-date: Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks.

Refresh should have moved your old profile to your desktop inside an Old Firefox Data folder. I suggest hanging onto that for at least a week in case you need to reference any materials in there.

I set browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML to true, and it took a little time, but it did export to the current profile folder. Thanks for your help.
