I have two AOL accounts. I have set it up to download the email for both. One works; one does not.

I want to download from two different AOL accounts. I have duplicated all the information for the setup except for the account addresses. I mean. Everything is exactly the same. The first account downloads the email. The second one does not. Every single time, it downloads the email from the first account, then asks for the password for the second account. When I enter the correct password for the second account, Thunderbird sets there for a LONG time, then gives the error message: 'Sending of password for user green_sky@verizon.net did not succeed. Mail server pop.aol.com responded: [SYS/TEMP] Server error - Please try again later.'. I have read everything about having two accounts and cannot understand what I am doing wrong.

My understanding of this box of rot is that Yahoo have decided that they will only accept POP{ mail if there is an application password created for the mail account. This however appears to be at odds with the absence of such application password generation facilities with AOL or Verizon.

You might be able to generate an application password at yahoo by signing into their site using your AOL email address and password. It used to work for ATT customers.
