URLs with port number - blocked by Firefox
Hello ! Firefox systematically blocks access to my IP cameras, with "This address is restricted" and "This address uses a network port which is normally used for purposes other than Web browsing. Firefox has cancelled the request for your protection." I have spent a long time looking in Firefox help, FAQs, Community discussions, and cannot find anything related to using network ports or port numbers (except in "proxy"). As I really need to access my cameras, how do I bypass this restriction ? Thank you very much in advance, Jacques

hello jacques.daulton,
I havent experienced this issue in a very long time.
But there are a couple of things you can do to peel away some of the questions.
1) Test the issue via another browser. If another browser does not produce the issue, then this is a clue to the problem.
2) Temporarily disable you firewall. While i am sure there will be other firefox contributors saying "NOOOOO" to disabling the firewall, it could very well be the problem you are having and may need to modify it for use for your cams.
3) The cam makers usually have websites with FAQ's; because you may not be the only one with the issue. So the makers may already have a fix for this issue.
4) Lastly, the cams may be junk made in China.
Thank you for spending time on this issue. May I remind you that the error message received contains the text : "Firefox has cancelled the request for your protection." Therefore it is Firefox (and Firefox alone) that is doing the blocking - not any firewall, or camera, or whatever you may attempt to imagine.
If / when FF blocks something then it should provide the user to accept or to deny the blocking.
