Colour marking of events in the calendar

Only just started with Thunderbird, so hope this isn't a daft question...

Am now setting up events in the calendar. I can see how to tag events for a wide range of categories (too many perhaps), but is it possible to highlight events in different colours, please?

Outlook doesn't let you do this, but the Google calendar lets you mark them up in different block colours - v useful for showing at a glance which family members are involved in which events - a bit like the old-style office wall planners.

I couldn't follow the suggested solution in 1459689, but found a way round: create individuals' calendars with different colours as well as one for the Home. It's easy to shift an item from one calendar to another: right-click on it, open with Edit and in the top line change which calendar it should sit in - make sure to change repeating items if needed.
