Strange error screen appears repeatedly when surfing Amazon with Firefox
I am getting a strange error when I surf Amazon.com's website with Firefox. It happens each time I open a new browser window, go to Amazon.com, and try to view an item after doing a general search. On the first attempt, I get the following script: "You have chosen to open ref=amb_link_7315942_1, which is a: application octet stream from http://www.amazon.com. What should Firefox do with this file?" Options are Save and Open With. If I cancel and try again, I get taken right to the linked page. Why am I getting this error screen?

I have similar problem with Amazon when trying to sort listings (e.g. sort by price instead of relevance) I get message: you have chosen to open ref=sr_nr_i_0 which is a: application/octet-stream from http://www.amazon.com what should firefox do with this file open with or save file...
prior to upgrading to ff 3.6.6 I could just click cancel and my second effort at sorting on amazon would work - no longer
i'm running Windows 7 and Kaspersky internet security ... any suggestions?
I also use Kaspersky security. Is this a common link?
I use Kaspersky too. Can't remember if I was having this problem before I installed it.
I don't have Kaspersky so I don't think this is a antivirus problem. It's'a pure firefox issue according to me ...
I was having the same issue, ff 3.6.6, win7, kaspersky av 2010. I did a little digging into kaspersky's settings and was able to exclude amazon from the web scanning. Do this only if you trust amazon of course! This appears to have worked for me. Also note the * at the end of the url!
I've got Kaspersky and Windows XP and this didn't seem to happen until I updated to Kaspersky 2011.....? Or is it Mozilla? This happens when I try to post replies in www.imdb.com message boards.....
Sometimes I'll see not this, but script errors, should I update Java?
