How to set new bookmarks as gmail keeps reporting that I'm off line although I'm sending/receiving e-mail.

I'm using Foxfile 3.6.13, Win7 and gmail. Today, our of the blue so it seems to me, I started getting this message when I tried to bookmark a site or "refresh" my google toolbar: We are unable to process your request as you are still offline." Somehow, my google toolbar is once again green but I continue to get this message.

I never work offline and do not have google gear installed.
