I am currently working with 2 tab groups, one main group and one group for birthday ideas for my husband. When my husband came into the room, I quickly switched to the main tab group so as not to spoil any surprises. Then, on my main tab group, I closed one of the 3 tabs that were open, and to my dismay, the last viewed tab from the birthday idea group popped up right in front of my husband, spoiling his birthday surprise :( I would expect that Firefox would, upon closing a tab, remain in the same tab group. Or, at the very least, provide a setting to allow the user to choose whether they want to switch to the last tab or stay in the current group via the preferences menu. Birthday or not, it doesn't make a lot of sense to switch to a separate group if you're working on one group, as presumably you have the tabs separated for a reason. Please provide a fix for this! In the meantime, I will be searching for a new gift for my husband :(

I just want to let you all know, I had this issue too. It turned out to be the addon All-In-One Gestures. After disabling it (and using FireGestures instead), my problems were gone. If you're experiencing this and you aren't using AIOG, it might be another addon and you can check by disabling all addons temporarily (using Firefox safe mode ) and testing to see if the problem still occurs.
