I updated Firefox and then tried to restart and have not been able to get it to restart. Have tried several times and tried some of the suggestions, but nothing has worked

that fix worked for me too. updated Roboform to v 7.6.2 and FF8 runs fine.

This seems to be caused by Roboform. Installing the latest version 7.6.2 of Roboform should solve this problem according to the Related Bug 691271.
