Yahoo.com not loading - no error - just blank white screen
It works on my other PC using IE 8, Chrome, and Firefox. I've tried other websites as well, and they all seem to be loading just fine. What is causing this and how do I resolve it?

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Clear Firefox's Cache
orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
Thank you for your response. I tried both steps and neither one worked. The first step, there was actually no "Offline Storage" cache to clear. I'm not sure if that's normal, but I clicked "remove" anyway, and there was nothing to remove. This is puzzling. Every other website I try in Firefox loads just fine. Any other thoughts?
Is anyone else familiar with this problem and have any suggestions for me?
Another standard diagnostic step is to try Firefox's Safe Mode to see whether it is caused by a custom setting or add-on.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Backing up your information. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the Safe Mode dialog, do not check any boxes, just click "Continue in Safe Mode."
If the site loads correctly, this points to an add-on or custom setting or perhaps a saved password as the problem. A few things to work through.
If the site doesn't load correctly, we would have to consider other factors.
Any luck?
Thanks again, but no luck. I'm in safe mode now as I type this, and the yahoo.com page is still a blank white page.
You said in your original post that it works on your "Other" with key word being other PC in multiple browsers and it works. Have you tried to visit the site using the same PC you are having problems with on using a different browser?
Can you access pages within the Yahoo network such as:
http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/jiro-dreams-of-sushi/
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/sfo
Edit: I see you said in a completely different thread that you can reach these parts.

I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear. On this same PC, I can access yahoo.com and all it's component websites using Chrome and IE, but I've always preferred to use Firefox.
I can access all of these pages within the yahoo network using Firefox. So far, all the sites within Yahoo I've tried work, except for yahoo.com. Is this odd or what?
The address http://yahoo.com/ redirects to http://www.yahoo.com/
Does it work if you go directly to the www form of the domain?
First reference the following KB link I provided below to see if that solves your problem. If you are still having an issue, then proceed to trying the 2 steps listed below.
Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can
1.If you receive an error message from a website, the error message may be cached. Attempts to reload the site may yield only the cached error message. To force a reload from the Internet, hold down the <Shift> key and press the Reload button.
2.If repeated attempts fail to open a website, Windows may have cached an unsuccessful DNS lookup attempt. This means that you may not be able to view a particular website until the cached result expires. As a workaround, you can flush the DNS cache (On Windows XP: "Start -> Run -> ipconfig /flushdns") then try loading the site again.)
Let us know if this was successful or not.
Neither link works - just a blank white screen. When I type an address, I usually type yahoo.com or www.yahoo.com, and both are the same - no good.
As Jscher stated, if you are just typing in yahoo in the location bar or search area and hitting enter this may be causing the issue. Try entering yahoo.com exactly as that in the actual address or URL bar & hitting enter to see if it will load the site.
Since I'm not seeing any error messages I went to step 2. in the run command field, I typed "ipconfig/flushdns" without the quotes, but it gives me an error saying the name I'm looking for does not exist. When I just typed "ipconfig", I saw the black DOS screen for a second, and then it disappeared. I'm on XP by the way, if I wasn't being clear before.
I did make another thread, probably no need for that, more out of frustration I think. I have 2 PCs. On the problematic yahoo.com PC, I can access all of yahoo and it's websites on Chrome and IE. (can access yahoo websites on Firefox but NOT yahoo.com) On my other PC, I have no trouble with any websites, in so far as the ones I visit, or have recently tried using Firefox, Chrome, and IE. Is that clearer?
Everything I've tried to this point has been in the address or URL bar. I type yahoo.com, and it changes to www.yahoo.com in the address bar after I hit enter, and nothing loads. Those other links that Jscher asked me to try have no problem loading. I'm not using Google or any other search engine to try and load Yahoo.com
I skipped a step previously, sorry.
Start > Run > type cmd or command & hit enter which should open command prompt or the black DOS screen.
type the following exactly with no spaces or quotes "ipconfig/flushdns" & hit enter, it should cycle through, pause for a little bit, and then state DNS resolver cache or something similar was successfully cleared or resolved.
The other thread will be removed shortly as it was flagged as duplicate posting. Just an FYI
Sorry about the repeat thread
It says, "Successfully flushed the DNS revolver cache" There wasn't even a pause, it popped up right away.
