Whenever I go into my options in Firefox to try to get the saves put into my Documents folder, it repeats the desired folder. So instead of getting the saves put into C:\Users\Mehwhynot\Documents\, it makes the save folder C:\Users\mehwhynot\Documents\Documents. It does the same no matter what folder I choose.

I have tried uninstalling and installing various version of Firefox (24, 12, 25-beta), but the problem persists. I even tried deleting the registry entry for firefox.

I've been getting around the problem for a few months now, by selecting always ask me where to save files, but that's just another irritating issue.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

I've had Malware Bytes and MSE installed on my computer for a couple of years now. I don't think a virus is causing this. Thanks for the reply though.

After I posted this question yesterday, I reinstalled Firefox 3.6/ Something I noticed today is that this problem didn't exist in Firefox 3.6, but since Hulu didn't work on it, I updated to 10, which (unfortunately) then auto-upgraded to 24 where the problem persists.
