Every time I receive a new email, it shows up in my inbox, important folder, and all mail folder. I then have to open all 3 folders before the mail no longer shows as unread next to the inbox in the left hand column on Thunderbird. What can I do to only need to open my mail once before it no longer shows I have new mail? Thank you.

Gmail?

You can unsubscribe from All Mail, and you can set gmail not to generate or populate the Important folder - you need to go to the gmail website to do this.

Thunderbird is simply showing you what it's set to show; it isn't responsible for the content of these folders.

All Mail is your actual mail store on gmail; all other folders are subsets of All Mail. Therefore you don't need to see it in Thunderbird. But DON'T try to delete or empty it!
