I have a new laptop. Loaded Firefox, then had to uninstall. After new install the app will not start. No error messages / reports are being generated. I've followed the uninstall steps; cleaned %Appdata% as well as install directories. Next step is the registry.

Did you delete the Firefox program folder?

  • (32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
  • (64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

hello, firefox doesn't rely on the registry at all (or nearly not at all), so that's probably not the solution. sometimes such problems tend to be caused by malware, so please run a full scan of your system with different tools like the free version of malwarebytes, adwcleaner, microsoft safety scanner or kaspersky security scan.
