Sorry to hear about the crashes and thank you for the crash report ID.
A bug was filed for this crash signature 3 days ago but the developers are still diagnosing the problem, so I suspect a fix is not imminent. Two things seem to be known:
- It's definitely something new in Firefox 42 beta 9
- It's highly correlated with having a dual Nvidia/Intel GPU system
This suggests the following short term mitigations:
- Disable one of the GPUs (I have no idea how one does this)
- Roll back to release (Firefox 41.0.2)
If rolling back, the usual suggestion applies:
Clean Reinstall
We use this name, but it's not about removing your settings, it's about making sure the program files are clean (no inconsistent, corrupted, or alien code files). As described below, this process does not disturb your existing settings. Do NOT uninstall Firefox, that's not needed.
(A) Download a fresh installer for Firefox 41.0.2 from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ to a convenient location. (Scroll down to your preferred language.)
(B) Exit out of Firefox (if applicable).
(C) Rename just the current program folder, either:
(64-bit Windows folder names)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
to
C:\Program Files (x86)\FxBeta
(32-bit Windows folder names)
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
to
C:\Program Files\FxBeta
(D) Run the installer you downloaded in (A). It should automatically connect to your existing settings.
Does Firefox work more normally?
Note: Some plugins may exist only in that OldFirefox folder. If something essential is missing, look in these folders:
- \FxBeta\Plugins
- \FxBeta\browser\plugins
Otherwise, there's no reason to keep the old folder except research/curiosity.
