After a warning message that Thunderbird/Firefox is already running, the programmes open with eg Thunderbird (2). I then close one thunderbird but the screen then flicks and my latest e-mails disappear and not just from thunderbird but from the host server as well. I have twice had to request a restore and am about to consign Thunderbird to the Trash. There is a limit of 3000 set in preferences but this should get rid of old emails not new ones. Any assistance before I delete the program would be helpful. Kiwibar

This article is far too complex to follow in the time I have available. The article is quite disjointed and has too many cross references if you do not have a printer to hand. I would suggest it be reformatted in system order ie one section for Windows, one for Mac , one for Linux. Then some of the referenced information could be included. With so many browsers and mail clients available unless a solution is quick and easy it is easier to download and run another even if it is not quite as good. The potential loss of e-mail information is critical to my business.

If you have any specific question to the article you're welcome to ask. But I'm afraid you'll have to take the trouble and read it in the first place.
