I can't log in and am not getting a response to my email of record

My yahoo mail account was working fine. Then it stopped. I was getting: "Login to server imap.mail.yahoo.com failed" I have tried everything in the forum so I decided to delete the account and start over. I tried to "log in" to my Thunderbird account and no response to my email at yahoo. I'm stuck.... UPDATE: I was able to log in (user name protocol mistake on my part). However, I still cannot get emails; continue to the the login failure message above. Still stuck.
