New Version slowed to a crawl - no increase in CPU usage
1 month ago I updated from Firefox version 45.0.2 to Version 46.0. Immediately, Firefox slowed to a crawl. Pages loaded extremely slow, typing forms required considerable more time, scrolling web pages was jerky. There was NO NOTICEABLE INCREASE in CPU usage or memory observed in Task Mgr. I am running windows XP SP3. I did the recommended troubleshooting remedies, starting in safe mode, but, nothing changes. I reverted back to version 45.0.2 and the problem was immediately reversed. When version 47.0 was introduced, I once again updated and the problem returned. I have created a new profile to try and correct the problem, I've refreshed Firefox with negative results. Once again, I have reverted to version 45.0.2 until it can be determined what is causing this issue. I am on cable broadband 100 mbps download speed so this isn't an issue. I have tested up to 79 mbps download speed. The most severe problems occur on websites such as Facebook, however it is still very noticeable on other web pages, such as my banking and utility company web sites where I pay bills. It is slow trying to log in as it takes a very noticeable longer length of time to load the pages. Any help is extremely appreciated to correct this issue?

I am very pleased to report that following the update to version 48.0 all previous problems have ceased. I now have a very responsive browser in Firefox version 48.0. Not sure exactly what changed everything, but thank you!
