I work for a museum and I found an old HP all in one touchscreen they used for a kiosk. I'd like to also use it for a kiosk but firefox has been locked into only displaying an html program so I can't access any menus, buttons, or hotkeys. How do I undo their access restrictions?

This is probably not really a Firefox question, more security and Windows related. You will need to be able to use a Windows (or whatever OS the HP uses) as an Administrator. You will then be able to control the Computer and install Firefox how you like it.

If necessary you may even install a new OS such as a free Linux, assuming you are able to boot from some sort of bootable media, or access the BIOS so as to change the boot options.

Contacting the previous Administrator/Owner of the HP is likely to be your quickest method of resolving this.

Plug in a keyboard and access the Boot Menu or the BIOS Menu upon bootup. http://www.disk-image.com/faq-bootmenu.htm Most likely keys to try - Esc key for the Boot Menu and F10 to get inton the BIOS Menu.

Then assuming it is running Windows, from the Boot Menu open the Windows Safe Mode. Not sure how to proceed from there, but at least you can poke around and see exactly which Windows version it is running and see which version of Firefox it has.
