There is no option to turn off tabs. Prior to version 57 I could use and extension, but with 57 I'm stuck with tabs.

This seems to work well if there is one : Can use google search terms : Firefox Extension <old extension name> Comparable

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I've been using the old extension but it doesn't work in version 57 despite setting the preferences to accept it.

What extension were you using before? Did it hide the tab bar, or did it pop tabs out into separate windows, or ??

The old extension might be listed in the disabled extensions section of the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Command+Shift+a (Windows: Ctrl+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions. Then check the bottom of the list on the right side.

Hopefully with that information we can help you find a replacement.

No it will not work. You can go to the Developers Extension page and see if there is comments about making it for 57 compatible. Some still have not finished their coding.

Try the search terms I gave.

Why not just program an option to turn off tabs? Safari has this option, why not Firefox. It's the primary reason I don't use Firefox.
