socks proxy don't work for many website
Use proxychains to proxy all firfox's connection to socks proxy works for all websites, use the built-in proxy setting to connect to the same socks proxy, some website fail to load (Secure Connection Failed).
For example, duckduckgo.com works (and can search new stuff so shoudn't be cached), google.com don't work, support.mozilla.org works, mozilla.org don't work.

Firefox 59.0.2 released this date, no idea if anything will help you. What was fixed : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/59.0.2/releasenotes/?utm_source=firefox-browser&utm_medium=firefox-browser&utm_campaign=whatsnew Note : Users who have configured an "automatic proxy configuration URL" and want to reload their proxy settings from the URL will find the Reload button disabled in the Connection Settings dialog when they select Preferences/Options > Network Proxy > Settings... (Bug 1445991)
What can I say your on Linux you have to compile things and nobody really wants to say Refresh......
But see what happens please in Safe Mode : *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:
- all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
- default theme is used (no persona)
- userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
- default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
- Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
- hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Advanced > General)
- plugins are not affected
- preferences are not affected
TEST''''is issue still there ?

- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
then
TEST....... If no issues then Extensions which need to be added back in 1 at a time and tested ..... Or it is your Profile : Make a new one and test ...:
If is your Profile :
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
Note: Any customization will revert back to default, you will also need to reinstall Extensions.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
You can check this pref on the about:config page to see if resist fingerprinting (RPT) is enabled and if this pref is user set (bold) reset to false via the right-click context menu to see if that has effect.
- privacy.resistFingerprinting = false
