I want easy access to Favorites/ Bookmarks and History. 1. Why did you change the name from Favorites to Bookmarks. Books and Bookmarks are not expressive of the actual technology, it is misleading and obsolete. Trying to differentiate yourself from other browsers by changing to obsolete terminology is a stupid idea. Please wise up. It just adds to confusion. 2 Why do I need to decide where to put them. Menu/ Toolbar/ Other. It is confusing. Then I forget where they are. I want one choice. Save. If I want to sort them into different folders I can organize it myself. A toolbar might be useful, but I don't want to be forced with the decision every time I save a website. Now I have to search for my Favorites/ Bookmarks with several clicks. I want one click access. 3. The same with History. The term History infers a chronology. I want to see the chronology in one click. Showing random selection with another click needed to show the chronology is a stupid waste of another click. Whoever thought this would make things easier, made things harder for me. I swear every time I try to find my "Bookmarks" or History. Conclusion Simple and intuitive is better! The option to complicate things by sorting into folders is good for people who need it. One click access to Favorites and History is obviously more intuitive.

1. Why did you change the name from Favorites to Bookmarks.

Hi Confused555, the word bookmarks is the original term and the one Mozilla (and Netscape before it) has always used. Microsoft invented the term Favorites when it came out with Internet Explorer. I don't think Firefox or other browsers are going to change to Favorites after all these years.

2 Why do I need to decide where to put them. Menu/ Toolbar/ Other. It is confusing.

If you don't do anything, they will all go under Other, which used to be called Unsorted. If you prefer them to be added to the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu, you can use the following add-on:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-bookmark-folder/

After installing, use its Options on the Add-ons page to select Bookmarks Menu instead of Other Bookmarks.

Now I have to search for my Favorites/ Bookmarks with several clicks. I want one click access.

Many people find the combined "Library" menu less convenient than separate menus. You can add individual menu buttons using the Customize feature, including a bookmarks menu button () and a history button.

This article will get you to the available icons, and you can drag them to where you want them: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.

If you have a high resolution screen with a lot of vertical space, you also could show the classic menu bar. To turn that on, you can use one of these methods to show the toolbar list and select it there:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank spot on the tab bar (or the "+" button)
  • (menu bar) View > Toolbars
On Windows, tap the Alt key to activate the menu bar temporarily.

To turn on the Menu Bar or Bookmarks Toolbar click it on the list.

1. The term "bookmark" is the industry standard. "Favorites" is the outdated term created by Microsoft when they entered the market.

2. You don't. By default, they are saved to the "Other Bookmarks" folder, unless you specify another location.

3. The history is displayed in chronological order. It's split into sections based on the date so that it's easier to view and search.

It sounds like the issue that you may have is that you don't like the Library function that was added to Firefox. Fortunately for you, Firefox is a very customizable application. You can simply Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars to add the old Bookmarks Menu back to the toolbar and remove the new Library if you want.

Hope this helps.

Note that you can also open bookmarks and history in the side bar. There is a Sidebar toolbar button available in the Customize palette that you can drag to the Navigation Toolbar.
