Got an anti virus? Using windows 8 you must do.

Disable it from scanning anything email related. If it is the virus from McAfee, just disable it entirely.

Beyond that to diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try the following:

• Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
• Restart the operating system in safe mode with Networking. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX

If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.

Same problem here. Everything works well with TB 60 (adding the yahoo account, syncing mail, etc). Nothing works with TB 68 (no syncing, no Oauth2 signup panel, etc). This is possibly a bug in TB 68.

I get flooded by 'Login to Yahoo IMAP failed.' messages from a couple of my Yahoo accounts and TB asks me for password.

I can confirm this behavior. Happens here too with both, Yahoo, and AOL and Thunderbird 68.2.2. This is with Linux, so anti-virus isn't the culprit here. I'm guessing, but it is my impression, that Yahoo/AOL limit the number of server queuries within a certain time. I'm primarily running into the problem after starting Thunderird, and clicking through a number of folders. I won't get through all of them without the error. The problem goes away after waiting 5 or 10 minutes. The account is IMAP. This happens with both, app passwords, as well as OAuth2 authentication. The error message is slightly different though, but essentially the behavior is the same. I don't have a solution for this either.

Well the sudden appearance of imap.gmail.com at the end there looks a bit out of place.

As IMAP logs can include multiple servers, exactly how did you create this log, and do you have a gmail account.

Sorry, I didn't start from a fresh profile. Yet, I managed to solve the issue at least so far. Basically, from the profile folder, I removed the key3.db and key4.db. This means that all login credentials for any account in TB are not available and need to be re-added. That said, now the OAuth2 panel finally appears when creating a new Yahoo account.
