Hello J. Ortola,
Would you please take a look at this :

Any good ?
Thanks for your time McCoy, but that is not the solution I'm looking for. I'd like to have a thumbnail for each document itself instead of a generic icon for all pdf files.

I'm sorry, but I can't find what you are looking for ..... :(
Maybe someone else will come to your rescue (fingers crossed).
I couldn't let it go and searched some more and found this (old) thread :

Any good ? Or does it not even come close ?
The idea behind this is not having any adobe product installed in my computer. The above method uses adobe's shell extensions to archieve that so it doesn't fit me.
I think FF doesn't support this right now. It would be great that it would support it in the future because the built-in reader is smooth and has all features I want without adds.
Thanks a lot for your time.
I've found this aproach but it also uses the adobe shell extensions

I had seen that thread too, but didn't think that would be what you are talking about ....
I'm sure that someone will come up with the perfect solution for you.
But we're dealing with different time zones, so you may have to wait a little longer .....
Anything helpful in these search results ..... ?
I'm not certain that this is what you're looking for but, I'll toss it out there.
Try this: Copy a PDF file to your desktop. Right-click on it and select Create Shortcut... Right-click on the shortcut and select Properties In the Properties dialog select Change Icon...
I know. You'll end up with a bunch of Shortcuts to your files but, you'll be able to see the different icons.
Just a thought.
For more icons, in the Change Icons dialog under Look For Icons In This File... change the path in the field to one of these:
- %windir%\explorer.exe
- %SystemRoot%\system32\imageres.dll
- %SystemRoot%\System32\SHELL32.dll
and click OK. A new list of icons to select from will be generated.
Or, you can create your own Custom Shortcut Icons: How to create and use custom shortcut icons on Windows
