Right click in search (Google) no longer functions properly.

Greetings,

I've noticed that since the recent update to 85.0.2, right clicking in the search bar to paste information on Google no longer functions properly.

If I've just opened the browser, and not done a thing with it, it will work. If I've visited any sites at all, and used the 'home' button to get back to Google, or opened a new tab to do so, right clicking the search field does not open the contextual menu as it should.

Other search engines work fine, and oddly enough, if I type something random into the main Google search page, the search field on the results page (at the top of the page) works as it should. The only issue appears to be with the 'main' search field on any but the initial opening of the browser home page.

I'm not sure of the cause, beyond noting that it began right after I updated to 85.0.2.

Hi, I'm not sure what is going on with the Google home page at https://www.google.com/ right now. I will mention a workaround, but since I always search from Firefox's own address bar or search bar, I don't know whether this is the new normal or both you and I are encountering some weird issue.

The workaround is to hold the Shift key down when right-clicking. This tells Firefox you don't want the site's custom right-click behavior, you want the built-in context menu.

Firefox does have a setting that lets your always show Firefox's built-in context menu in front of any custom site menu. This can be inconvenient when you actually do want to use the site's custom menus, but I'll mention it in case you were using this setting before and recently switched it:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste context and pause while the list is filtered

(3) To force Firefox's menu: Double-click the dom.event.contextmenu.enabled preference to switch the value from true to false

With that in place, you may sometimes need to tap the Alt key to "peel off" Firefox's menu from in front of site menus.

Of course, if Shift+right-click is inconvenient, there's always Ctrl+V to paste if the cursor is in the search box. (There is a setting in New Tab Override to put the cursor into the box on new tabs, in case it's not already set to do that.)
