Import of bookmarks.html in IE results in error

more options

I tried to transfer my Firefox bookmarks to IE on Windows 10. As described I exported a bookmarks.html in Firefox, then I created an empty Folder in IE named Import and tried to import the bookmarks.html to this folder. IE reports an error and I do not know what could be the problem.

Ok, English is not my mother tongue, but I did exactly, what this article says. The Problem is, that IE deliveres an error while importing. The same bookmarks.html I can import into Firefox, but not into IE.

What is the error message you get in IE?

When I look at a recent bookmark export, my editor tells me it is encoded using UTF-8 and has "Unix-style"/"Linux-style" line breaks instead of Windows-style line breaks. So maybe that is a problem for IE??

Hi

Translated from German to Englisch: "Some of the settings could not be imported" and IE imported only very little of the bookmarks

Made some more tests: Surprisingly Edge could import the bookmarks with no problem. Then I exported the bookmarks from edge and tried to import this bookmarks into IE: the same result

But unfortunately, Edge doesn't solve my problem. What I really wanted to solve (with the help of IE) was to create a folder structure of bookmarks/links ! I'm getting crazy, the internet is full of examples of how to convert a folder structure to a single HTML file, but not the other way around.

Downloaded Notepad++ to check the file, yes was UTF-8. Then I converted with notepad++ to ANSI and imported again into IE. This time no error, but the result (amount of imported bookmarks) is the same !?

Hello Albert,

If i know Microsoft, their Internet Explorer will be phased out. Microsoft's new browser is called "Edge" and many resources are being applied to this newest version of Microsoft browser.

But for what is worth, the Internet Explorer browser should be considered as a back up browser or emergency browser.
