AOL just required me to delete my Thunderbird account and re-install it for security purposes. They claimed that my old folders and emails would still be there, but they're gone. I think I need to find my 'old' profile on my laptop to link Thunderbird to it again, but I don't know how to do that. Can someone guide me through that? It would be a disaster if all of my old email folders were gone.

To locate the old account data look in your profile folder. To find the profile folder see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data#w_finding-your-profile-without-opening-thunderbird
