I received an email about "Get early access to a Hubs subscription" on both the current email address I use for my Firefox account and the email address that I used previously. The latter is neither my secondary email address. How is it possible that I received an email on my old address?

You email address is only used for Firefox account login purpose and if you setup subscription would it send to that email. You need to check your firefox account for subscription notification to see what is checked. Also Firefox has noting to do with your actual email address it's just used mainly for login and password reset and if you selected subscription notification. So check your settings on this. And look at your profile and see what if any subscription was check that your receiving from that settings.
